There are many different ways to learn Spanish, but whichever way you choose remember that you’re going to need a combination of the four main skills: writing, reading, speaking and listening.
The best way to learn Spanish is obviously by going to a Spanish school, especially if you can go to one in Latin America or Spain. Spanish immersion programs as they’re called is one of the most effective ways to learn Spanish.
If you can’t make it to a Spanish school though, then you best option is to learn Spanish online. Remember though, you still have to practice the four main skills: reading, writing listening and speaking.
Most online Spanish courses will give you practice in writing, reading and listening, but no practice at all in speaking.
And this is what you want to do, right? Speak Spanish!
The best method is a program which teaches you online but then allows you to practice what you’ve learnt with real live Spanish teachers via Skype.
So, what I’d recommend is that you learn Spanish online, and then go and find yourself a skype Spanish teacher who you can actually practice with. Spanish teachers are expensive, so learning all the grammar rules first with Rocket Spanish will end up saving you a lot of money.
And if you’re looking for skype teacher, you can check out The Spanish Cat, who offer some great classes at a good price.
Another option is Pimsleur Spanish, although they seem a little pricey.
Rosetta Stone also offers an online course, although I haven’t tried that one out.
